Two commandments

“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:36-40

Father,

We are thankful that You love us and we are in awe of Your goodness. Let us love You with all our hearts, souls, and minds. We love You, help us to love You more. We want to follow Your commandments; we want to love others as ourselves.

Show us how to put others first and not strive to constantly satisfy our desires first. We want to follow You, even to the end of ourselves.

Teach us to let that great love shine into the hearts of our children and spouses.

Turn their hearts to You and give them the yearning to love You. Place in them a desire to love You with all their hearts, minds, and souls. Return them to their first love and let them be Yours. Bring them spouses, families, and jobs that will speak to them and show them the way of Truth, even when it means abandoning their own desires.

Heal the deep parts of their hearts and strengthen them to love You with a consuming love. As they love You, we pray that the love flows to the world and its lost and dying. Stir them to love others with a righteous love and not a selfish love.

We pray that they have hearts for the lost and a new heart to humble themselves before You.

Bless Isreal with peace and give them a fresh love for You, let them recognize their Savior and be transformed.

We pray that our nation learns to love You and to love others more than themselves.

We praise a God Who loves us and wants us to love others.
