“Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.” Job 28:28

Adonai, our Lord, we search the Scriptures and find hints of the wonderful things You have done for us. As we see Your glory, holy awe of Your power and majesty comes over us. Your character and nature are beyond our comprehension, and Your love never fails.

We want to understand Your Word and how to live this life in honor of You. Give us wisdom to turn away from evil so we can discern the truth. Give us the understanding that comes from turning away from evil. The lies and deceptions of this age grow increasingly evil. We pray that our children and families have holy reverence for You. Let them turn away from evil so they may discern the times. As they turn, let their understanding grow and give them strength to submit to You and become wise.

Bless them with situations, encounters, and people who are wise and can discern truth from lies. Surround them with Your people and let their hearts hear the truth.

We pray for Israel. Give them humility to reverence You and turn away from evil so they may discern Your will for them to receive the Messiah, Jesus.

We pray for our nation today, the day we celebrate this mighty gift from You. We have not held the awe of Your might and power. We have been prideful and arrogant. We have wasted the honor of living in a nation that allows us to worship freely. Forgive us and let us turn from evil so that we understand how to be Your people once again.

Lord God, Adonai, we pray for our nation and the world.
